Rā Winiata is an independent Director for Te Hoiere Asset Holding Company Ltd. He operates a Māori business consultancy called Indigenous Development Group Ltd and he is from Ngāti Ranginui and Ngāti Porou descent.

His association with Ngāti Kuia began with him leading governance training for trustees in 2015 and then assisting with the development of the tribal economy – in particular helping to secure funding for the Titiraukawa Processing facility, the native trees on the DoC leased land adjacent to Titiraukawa and the semi-automated nursery there too. When David Johnston left in 2023, Rā was interim General Manager until a new GM could be appointed.

Rā has experience and a passion for residential and commercial building investments and is on several boards including fisheries, fish processing, land trusts and non-profit charities. Ra has four tamariki and outside of work enjoys golf and being in the ngāhere.
