Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Kuia Trust
Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Kuia Trust was set up to manage the assets of Ngāti Kuia iwi. It serves as this generation's commitment to honouring those who have gone before us while providing a pathway to ensure the ongoing well-being and prosperity of Ngāti Kuia for future generations. We are guided by a strong leadership structure that ensures the aspirations of our iwi are realised. Our team serves over 5,000 registered iwi members, working collectively to empower our people to live a Ngāti Kuia way of life today and into the future.
Elected by our people, Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Kuia Trustee Board provides leadership and strategic direction to ensure the aspirations of our whānau are realised. Our trustees bring a wealth of experience from different backgrounds and are committed to upholding our mana motuhake, protecting our taonga, and creating opportunities that empower whānau.
Our Pou Structures
At Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Kuia, we operate under two distinct but complementary pou structures that guide our kaupapa and support the day-to-day running of our organisation. These are our Strategic Pou, and our Operational Pou.
These Pou bring our strategy, Te Rautaki a Kuia, to life, ensuring our goals are embedded in everything we do. Each Pou focuses on a key area of iwi development.
Our long-term strategic plan can be summarised into 4 points:
- Our people live all day, every day as Ngāti Kuia.
- Whānau well-being is established and intergenerational.
- The mauri o te taiao is strong.
- Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Kuia operates under a te ao Māori framework and is sustained by a solid foundation of resources.
Operational Pou
Our operational Pou reflect how we work together as an organisation. Each Pou is led by a dedicated kaimahi who guides their team, upholds tikanga, and ensures our kaupapa is delivered with care and coordination. The names of each Pou are drawn from structural elements of a traditional whare, symbolising their role in supporting the Rūnanga. Together, these Pou uphold the integrity of our whare and the aspirations of Ngāti Kuia, embodying our journey to reindigenise our ways of thinking and working. These Pou include:
