Te Runanga o Ngāti Kuia Trust is an iwi organisation with a proud history of giving back to the community, supporting the operation of our marae, and contributing to the restoration and well-being of te taiao and tāngata whenua.

An exciting permanent opportunity has become available within our team – Kaitātaki i Ngā Kaiahuone | Production & Environmental Lead.

Te Mahi | About the role

Based primarily on our iwi-managed whenua, Titiraukawa, this role offers a dynamic and meaningful work environment where no two days are the same. You’ll collaborate closely with our Pou Pakihi | Commercial Operations Lead to develop strategic workplans, champion iwi-led initiatives, and uphold the wellbeing of both the whenua and our kaimahi.

Your leadership will help drive impact across the following areas:

• Champion environmental restoration – Lead efforts to protect and rejuvenate our natural ecosystems.
• Oversee kānuka harvesting and processing – Guide the team through sustainable practices from field to finished product.
• Support nursery operations and biodiversity initiatives – Contribute to native seed propagation and the growth of our ecological future.
• Assist Te Hora Marae with maintenance and upkeep – Strengthen connections with our marae through hands-on support.
• Foster innovation, ensure compliance, and inspire team engagement – Create a culture of excellence, safety, and collaboration.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to:

• Guide and mentor kaimahi with training, development, and whānau-focused leadership.
• Embed Te Ao Māori values in everyday mahi.
• Ensure health, safety, and wellbeing across the team.

• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Commitment to kaupapa Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Qualifications in Horticulture or Environmental Management (desirable).
• Experience in production, harvesting, and native ecology (desirable).
